Know Thine Enemy 6

My Pastor, Kent McBay, provided most of the scriptures that will appear in this article. He also provided or inspired the thoughts that will appear here.

Ephesians 6:10-13: Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

There are several important phrases and truths in the passage that we must know and understand. be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. We must know who has the power and might. that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. It is the armour of God that gives us the ability to stand against the wiles of the devil. It is interesting and informative that all we need do is add the letter D to evil and it comes out Devil.

2 Thessalonians 3:3: But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

2 Timothy 2:24-26: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

The plural of the word snare appears in the Bible more often than the singular. Satan has many wiles and snares. He will attack us, no ifs ands or buts. The more faithful we are to live the Christian life the more frequent and severe will be his attacks. But his attacks will be accompanied by blessings of God.

2 Timothy 3:12: Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Matthew 5:11: Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Genesis 3:1: Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Satan questions the word of God, tells half-truths about it, twists it and flat out lies about it. A half-truth is a lie in disguise.

John 8:44: Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

2 Peter 3:16: As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

He wants us to wrestle with the scriptures and thereby destroy ourselves. He wants to destroy any possibility of men having a relationship with the Father through the Son. Even after we enter into a relationship Him, Satan wants to destroy that relationship or damage it in any way that he can.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
